Painting Techniques and Materials

The Painting Process

I start with a high quality photo and create a mock up in Photoshop. If required I am able to create a photo montage using the portrait image and separate background image by merging them in Photoshop.

Once the mock up is agreed I will then start to create the painting. My work is painted using artist quality acrylics in light layers and glazes to create depth and detail in a photo realistic style. I use traditional materials, paint brushes and airbrushes to produce the highest quality image possible. When the work is completed it can be sent to you ready to frame or I can arrange for it to be framed to your requirements.

Materials

I only use the highest quality artist materials for my portraits ensuring you receive the best work possible. My paintings and drawings are designed to be long lasting, light fast and archival; to look as good in years to come as they do when you receive them.

Artist Quality Art Board and Paper

I use only the highest quality British and German artist quality art board and heavyweight paper. I have tried and tested many types of board and paper and have settled on what I feel produces the best results for my art techniques.

Artist Quality Acrylic

I only use the best artist quality acrylic paints for my portraits that have the highest pigments levels that are light fast and resist fading over time.
